Original Wallace Monument Design - Lion and Typhon
This was the original design for a monument for William Wallace by Sir Joseph Noel Paton.
It was deemed to be too provocative as it depicts the Lion Rampant eating an english typhon. (anyone find any reference to this?)

aye deffers, I originally saw it for a few seconds on the BBC a few years back, pretty shocking that the only copies of it are this one (photo of a photo*) and the Scran (educational) copy for £10.
*which I have 'mirrored' from the blog above
would make an excellent tat
"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone... but they've always worked for me."
aye said that to whitey the other night, it looks genius, is 140 years old and has a wholesome sentiment that everyone can get on board with lol
And it's highly original in tattoo terms. Win, Win!
I have this on my back. Have had for a few years now.....so sorry all, been done
lol, can just about handle that, just as long as someone I know doesn't get there before me.
Where did you first see it? Any 'family friendly' pictures of the tat?
